I I have a female chin who is about 8 months old, she has had diarrhea for about 1 1/2 weeks, I read in a chin book to give toast or hard roll I tried and she wont eat them, she gets chin pellets and Timothy hay.....Any suggestions   Than tonight I noticed she peed on a paper towel once or twice and there was blood,I don't kow if it's in her urine or do chins get their period? Please help. Thank you.

my guess would be you need to bring her to the vet. there shouldn't be blood in her urine she could have a bladder infection. also diarrhea could be caused from something she ate, but it also could be something wrong with her digestive tract i would think. i'm sure people will have more ideas about this but thats what i would do, good luck!

   Chinchillas are often sick much longer than we know ... by the time you know one is sick, it may be to late.

I would definitely get her to a knowledgeable vet a.s.a.p.  With a sick chinchilla, time is your enemy.

Blood is not good to see with any chinchilla.  The fact that it is showing up in the urine or bowls, is even worse.

Dirrhea in a chinchilla should not be allowed to last over 24 to 48 hours, they can quickly become dehydrated.

Is this the same chin I suggested putting the white paper under on another post?

Please keep us posted on her condition and what the vet says.

Are you sure it was blood? Their urine can be pretty dark.
And the toast needs to be blackened, not just toasted.
Try her with an ordinary soup cracker, salted will be fine for now. The salt will make he drink more water so she won't get dehydrated.
Mix 1 teaspoon of sugar with 1/4 teaspoon of salt into a cup of boiled water. Chill and put it in the water bottle. This will prevent dehydration. Let her drink that for a few days and then fill with fresh water again.
It's the first thing I do when I suspect a chin is ill. Like has been said they mask it so well, and the complications from dehydration can hind the real problem and even make it secondary sometimes.
