stepped on and wont eat, just read to hear the whole story.
« on: February 22, 2010, 02:26:32 PM »

ok so Feb 2, 2010 accidentally stepped on poor Herby i was walking around my room preparing to catch him and he ran under my foot, i didnt stomp down and picked my foot up as soon as i realized he was under me but i still feel horrible, ::cry222::: we took him to the vet the next morning(and i found out she does know quite a bit about chinnys, on of her friends daughter raises them) and she said he was fine everything looked in great health but he was probably sore so she gave me some pain killers and sent us off. i gave those to him the next few days and hes been doing great but he hasnt been eating, now i realize he was probably really tramatized but he doesnt act like hes scared at all, he never did, and will still jump and climb and spaz out in the air but unless i take away his hay for the night he wont eat. he used to chug down 2tablespoons a day and now Maybe Maybe 1 if he has his hay(which he eats just fine) and he still chews on Everything and when he doesnt have his hay he has no problem eating. so i dont know what to do, i dont want to take away his hay every night but he does need to eat, he went from 675grams to 400 and then bounced back to a lb and is staying around there. and im worried, the vet said to just give him some time to recover but hes fine everywhere else and i just dont know how long to wait before bringing him back. so Help!!!

It will take longer to put in back than it does to comes off.
Wish we were like that.
I'd just keep on eye on him for the next couple of weeks, as long as he's not dropping, try not to worry too much.
If he drops in the mean time , yes bring him back.
They can live an hay for a long time, and I would rather seeing him eating lots of hay and less pellets.Keeps his teeth in check while he gets over the shock.
Sounds like he's bruised, and that can take time.

If he's eating hay I wouldn't worry too much... but good luck. :)

That's a nice weight, I worry when one who's big goes under 500 grams.
Most mine males run around 700, females from 800-1000.
