I read on another forum that pine cones are safe for chins and they love them?

true?

what must be done to them and what kind?

I wish I could but I just don't know. Since different parts of the pine and different species of pine have different concentrations of oil in them I suspect it can be potentially harmful. That's the best I can answer.

I have just started trying them and have given them to my 20 + chins several times. Yes the chins loved them. Make sure they have never been sprayed. ::nod::
I washed, rinsed, boiled and baked them in a slow oven.
I did wait until I heard others have used them with no problems. :blush2:
