I don't completely understand what you did. It appears you took an old one, took the top off of a new one, and put it on the old one. Is there a reason you didn't just exchange the new one for the old one?

The old one had a lot of wear and tear.

The wooden base is pretty important, to keep the wheel at an incline.

Lazy susan's don't come with the wooden base.

Okay so where did the base come from?
