"We all love our chinchillas, and we can never stop learning about them.  So we thought we’d come up with a top 10 list of facts about chinchillas.  After all, the more we know about our pets, the better we can look after them and the more fun we get from doing so."

The only thing is chins are pack animals in the wild but not all chins should live in groups. Many will kill another chin just to be alone. Each chin needs to be considered on an individual basis

"8.  Chinchillas Digest Their Food Twice!

Their food passes through their digestive system and is excreted to be re-ingested.  This is the same as both rabbits and guinea pigs, and is a process known as caecotrophy."

ooo... his current cage set up has his droppings fall out the bottom of the cage where he can't get at them. Does this mean that I should make it so that his droppings are collected in his cage where he can eat them?

I don't think Popsicle has been eating his droppings... is this bad for his health? Should I try to incorporate his droppings into his diet?

You don't have to worry about that in captive animals. Their diet provides more than enough nutrition for them.
