How soon can you hold the baby chins?
« on: July 11, 2007, 06:31:48 PM »

Hi,
I wanted to know how soon can the little ones be held? With my rabbits it was after their eyes were opened. But with chins they are born ready to be held. I would think. I'm just wondering about that. I did find anything on it in the forums. Thank you, Shannon

Hi Shannon,

Babies are too cute to resist!   :::grins::

My kits, I hold the day they are born.  I count their little toes and fingers and I try to tell what sex they are.  Then I put them back with mom.   Of Course, After I have Kissed their little heads!!!    ::nod::   I only keep them away from mom....maybe only a minute (at the most).

Then after they get to be about 3 days old I will hold them longer....maybe 2 to 3 minutes, but never long from mom.  Don't want them to get a chill!

Yes, It's a good thing chin kits come snuggle-ready, because I don't think I could resist if they didn't!

Yes some are still wet when I have them in hand, with one or two more Mom doesn't mind help.
Then I held my bunnies from birth as well, and my gerbils, hamsters, white mice, kittens, puppies.........how could you resist.
