In all honesty, it's a matter of personal preference.  I use and highly recommend Mazuri, but Mazuri and Oxbow both make very high quality pellets.  A good chinchilla pellet will be around 17% to 21% Crude Protein, but no less than 16% Crude Protein, and 18% Crude Fiber.  Both use Alfalfa as the primary ingredient, which is another important thing to look for.  Because they are both high quality and should offer your chinchilla all of the nutrients it needs when also being fed Timothy hay, I would suggest you select which one you feed based on price and how easy it is to find.  If you'd have to have both shipped, then you've narrowed your selection process down to which one is less expensive for you.  It sounds like you're saying that Oxbow will be the less expensive option for you, so I say go with Oxbow.

I've used Mazuri and Tradition  and with breeding animals I would highly recommend Tradition.  My breeding females lost a lot of weight and I had smaller birth weights and lost more babies.  With Tradition even my Moms of triplets had no problems at all and no supplement was needed.

::silly::  I've never used Oxbow, but have heard lots of good things about it.

I used Mazuri and it was good, but next to impossible for the particular distributor to get it to me on a regular basis.  This is one strong part you have to consider ... being able to get it on a regular basis and in a timely manner.  If you can not get it, you still have to feed your little ones something ...you can't let them go hungry, yet swapping to another brand off and on, when I could not get the Mazuri in, kept their system up-set.  So, I changed to Manna Pro Show.   I did not like the results with that, eventhough I have heard some breeders say they use it and like it, but, I didn't ...  sooooo ...

Now, I use Traditions and it has been great, most of my chins love it, over the other two.  I have had no problems with the litters on it and some of my chins that I had problems with on the other feed, I no longer have a problem with them.

We have a friend, another breeder, that has it milled near him ... we just let him know when we are getting low, he has it done and we go get it.  It is a fresh constant supply for us and the chins are doing great on it.   ::nod::

What ever you do, stay away from most of the pet store brands and the brands that say they are "Deluxe" ... it is nothing but 'junk-food' for a chinchilla.

Kind of a late reply, but I'll put in my two cents.

I used to feed mine Oxbow but it is very expensive in comparison to Tradition.  I see you're in Canada too, as am I, and I buy mine online from the States.  The place I get from switched over to Tradition and it's way way way cheaper and the chins like it just as much.  I think it stinks (like, smells really bad) but I'm not the one eating it  ::)  I'm very happy with Tradition.
