Just curious, but how long and what is the purpose of quarantining chins when you first bring them home??

Quarantining is necessary to ensure the new chin doesn't bring any contagious illnesses into the area with your existing animals.  Chins are susceptible to a number of contagious, and sometimes airborne, viruses and bacteria.

I quarantine for 30 days, but I am not sure what the standard wait time is.  Maybe some of the other breeders can weigh in on how long they quarantine.

I agree that the quarantine time should be at least 30 days upon acquisition.  Very much for the reason of stopping any spreading of a possible illness of a newly arriving chin to your existing chin/chins.  There are many contagious "bugs" that could make the chins you have now very ill or wipe out your chin family in no time.  Not to say the least about vet. costs to try to save what you do have. It is a very important precaution to take.  JANE  :)
