goopy eye

Spike has a bit of goop in his eyes and i think it may be due to an abrasion on his leg or his teeth. What should I do, seeing as the vet wont be available until monday????? how do i dress the abraison on his leg? is triple antibiotic creme and guaze ok???

The eye wouldn't have anything to do with the leg.  What happened to his leg?  The goop could just be from a dust bath which is nothing to worry about or it could be that he stuck his eye with something like a piece of hay. If its the dust it should be gone by tomorrow.  If not it will persist and you should see a vet.

I took him to the vet and it seems his leg is infected. His cage is wire and i think he hurt himself on it...so guessin i need to get him a new cage...since he's on antibiotics do i need to start him on bene-bac as well???

If he is getting the antibiotics orally he does need some form of probiotic to counter act it.  Give it 1/2 way between each dose.
