Snowie is a white chinchilla with a little bit of gray.  I still can't get snowie to take a dust bath. I have a lava stone in the cage which he sometimes tries I to roll around in the dust that comes off of it, which is not a lot. Is that enough for his fur to stay healthy? I'll put Snowie in the dust bath, which he doesn't want to go into, and he doesn't even roll around in it, I have to rub it on him and he just tries to get out.

How old is he?  I'd try to sprinkle it on him to see if it helps.

Try giving a small amount of dust on a flat pan, like a cookie sheet.  He may not like the confinement of a dust house.  It sounds like he might be more comfortable bathing in an open setting.

You could also try leaving the dust house in the cage for a few minutes and leaving the room. Some chins don't like to dust with someone watching them.
