okay, I was with my neighbor playing our wii, and I noticed Charlie was making this gaging/screach noise. It sounded like he was mad because we where making alot of nise, so we stopped playing.

He continued to make the noise though.

I dont know whats wrong with him!! 

He had been playing and having fun earlier and everything!!! Last night I got home from vacation and her was fine too (He is infront of our fireplace) when I opend his caged he jumpped out to see me and the ran off into the fireplace. I grabbed him really quick and he hasnt chewed on anything in there (as far as I know....).

Does any one know whats wrong? I can't afford a vet trip D: plus the nearest vet im certin takes chins is an hour away!!!!

also, he looks perfectly fine and everything. and he also wont let me near him now. hes just sitting in his pipe..
-- right now he only makes the noise if someone gets within a few feet of his cage....

anyway: I watched him for a while: he stoped with the gaging noise about an hour after i posted, and he spent some time watching the syfy channel with my dad, but then he went to sleep around 10:30 last night. He hasnt eanten much or his food either...

I woke up and he was still asleep.... but hes alive

   You are very lucky.  More than likely he had something stuck in his throat ... it could have been a food pellet or something from the floor ... they are very quick at grabbing something and stuffing it in their mouths.  More than likely, since he was gagging for a while, his little throat might be a bit tender or raw at this point.

Suggestion: You might want to get a special piggy bank or account set up for any vet-related-chinchilla-emergencies.

This happended to my chin as well.  I think there is some type of noise that the WII or the game your playing makes.  I was wondering what it was and then I turned off the game and he stopped barking.

    Hmmmmmmmmmmmm ....  ... Never heard of that before, but it seems a logical possibility ... since both of you were playing with your Wii games at the time. 

What particular game were each of you playing on your Wii?

Were there any other symptoms you noticed other than the gaging sound?  Anything about their body movements?  Standing? Setting?  Laying on their side or back?  Stiffness in the legs?  Head drawing back?

But I was plaything the american idol game (my friend was later joking the he just really hates my singing, which I wouldnt doubt xD it's really bad)
but it was just that noise, and he was just itting there with his paws up on the cage bars like he does when he's acting all cute and looking for attention.

& yes, setting aside money is a good idea, Ive set aside the christmas money that Im not using for his new cage in my bank account for emergencies/collage (yay, multi purpose!)
