Dry ears?
« on: March 02, 2010, 10:27:19 PM »

I went to petsmart tonight and played with a chinchilla there and he had very soft ears. My chinchilla doesnt. Mines ears are very dry almost crunchy feeling. Even make a sound when I rub them. Is this normal? Is there something I can put on them so they arent so dry? Thanks

that doesn't sound normal to me, chinchillas ears should be soft and definitely not make any type of noise. i have heard of rubbing bag balm or vitamin E oil to get off the dry skin, but i'm sure other people will offer different things. good luck  ::)

Olivia is correct.  You can also use baby oil. How often are you giving him a dust bath?  Too much dusting can lead to fry skin.
