How long to leave chew toys in their cage
« on: May 10, 2010, 08:15:47 AM »

I'm not sure if i'v asked this before or not but I don't think so. I was wondering how long most people leave their chew toys in their cage befor switched them out for other ones. I feel like mine get tired of them before its all gone, and i'll switch them. But when them time comes to put the chew toy back in their cage they never seem to chew on it as much as the first time. Is that normal for a chin to do. ::silly::

Mine have several chew toys in their cage and things that they have cleverly dismantled along with pumice pieces they have pulled off of other things. I keep a bowl in their cage full of things they have dismantled. If anything, the bowl gets emptied every night, things chewed on some more and tossed around the cage. I throw them away if the piece has been in the bottom of the cage where they "do their business". In my opinion, they never throw things down there that they like so I am sure it is okay to leave things in there for a period of time. I do throw pieces away that are also getting too splintered...I sort have their number after two years with my boys...they will NOT play with anything "old" if they know they will get something new and brightly colored...so you have to teach them like a child...they are spoiled little buggers but they deserve to be!!  :2funny:

huh. That is interesting. I think your right about that. They def are spoiled. I think i may keep them it their a bit longer and see if they chew on it any more. I don't think they really have though. It was weird bc a few days ago i ripted a paper towel roll and they didn't chew on it. They ushaly do. Also i'v knoticed some of the stuff they liked to chew when they were younger they don't like now, but i guess thats normal.
