Baking the branches?
« on: August 28, 2006, 02:10:05 PM »

I read some where that before the chins can have anykind of branch it needs to be baked. Has anyone else herd of this and if so how hot does the oven need to be and how long should they stay in there?

I read to bake the branches at 250F for an hour, so that is what I do.  I also wash them off with a vinegar and water mix before baking.

Does it matter what part of the tree you get. I was thinking of getting a big branch so it would last awhile but I am not sure if that part would be to hard for them.

Any thickness is okay just as long as the branch is fresh, you shouldnt use anythink from the floor and make sure you wash it in water with salt or with vinegar instead then leave it in the oven for about 1 and 1/2 hours on 270F
