Bedding

Ok, I was looking at everyones' pictures of their chin babies, which by the way, I couldn't think of any better way to spend my time at work! :2funny: Anyway, I saw in a lot of the pictures, stuffed animals and blankets and the little soft hammock like things. I didn't think that those would be good to use with a chinchilla. Am I wrong? Will the chinchillas not tear them up? Will they not make the chinchilla too hot? I would love to put something soft for Jose to snuggle up on in his cage, is that possible?

the only matieral safe for a chinchilla is fleece, however if you use it and you ever notice your chin chewing  on it, its best to take it out.

some chins do like cuddle buddies... hammocks...etc..... they are just so spoiled, they know they OWN US..lol

My chins pee in the hammocks but all my females give birth and nurse on their fleece blankets.
One of my dads trow them out of the box when he returns to the family. ::) They all throw them around during the summer so I onley use them in the winter.

A lot of times people take pictures with props.
What you may be seeing with the babies having non chin safe toys could very well be simply for the sake of the picture and promptly removed after the photo op.
I know I'm guilty of trying to find cutesy backgrounds.  ::shrug::
