Chinnie Quiz!
« on: September 01, 2006, 09:20:45 PM »

Hey, me again. I was wondering if somebody could ask me a few questions about chinchillas, like a quiz. I just want to  see if I know a lot about them. Don't worry, I promise I won't cheat,  ::nod:: Try me! :chin:

Hmm  Lets see..what are some good new owner questions....

What type of shavings should you never use with chinchillas?

What temperature starts getting dangerous for overheating?

Can chinchillas have fruits and fresh veggies to eat?

Maybe someone else can come up with a few more...

::silly::OK ...

When were chinchillas introduced to the United States and by who?

Where did chinchillas come from and what is the original color of chinchillas?

How may days, on the average, from conseption to delivery of kits?

What is the average heart beats per minute for a chinchilla?

What is the normal body temperature of a chinchilla?

Somebody else's turn!

1. Chinchillas were introduced by M.F. Chappman but i dont know the year.
2. Chinchillas came from the Andes mountains and their original color was grey(standard)
3. A chinchillas normal body temp should be between 101-102 (F)
I couldnt do the heartbeat one without looking it up so i wont answer it.

Heres my question.

Hi All!
::silly::Here we go again ... questions that are still unanswered ...
....
(1)What type of shavings should you never use with chinchillas?
Quote
MissKitz: is it pine or cedar?
Careful MisKits ... one can kill and one is good for them!  Question remains open!
(2)What temperature starts getting dangerous for overheating?
Quote
MissKitz: i heard 80 but i always kept it under 78 in the chinnie room
Under 80 is acceptable for short periods of time ... under 75 is better ... we keep ours under 70.
(3)Can chinchillas have fruits and fresh veggies to eat?...
Quote
MissKitz:No not one bit is for the fruits/veggies
Think again ... aren't raisins in one of those categories & raisins are good for them ... in moderation.
... (4)When were chinchillas introduced to the United States ...?
(5)What is the average heart beats per minute for a chinchilla? ...
...Heres my question.
Same as #1 Above1. What types of wood should you never give your chinchilla?
(6)In the wild ... how many litters per year did most chinchillas have?
(7)How many kits are usually in a litter?
(8)Is it OK to leave daddy chin in with the momma chin while she is having her kits?
(9)What is breed-back and is it healthy?
(10)How quickly can a momma chin go back into season after her kits are born?
(11)What size wire is needed for a chinchilla's cage, especially if they have kits or are going to have kits?
Quote
MissKitz:the wire should be less then a 1 inch
Close ... 1/2 x 1" or smaller
I think, as Jamie suggested, it would be good to move these questions to the quiz section for points ... anyone can answer them for points! It's getting a bit busy/confusing here.   Research your answers! :D
