Ferret Cages?
« on: November 23, 2012, 03:04:58 PM »

Do ferret cages work for chinchillas? I've been hearing that they do, as long as you watch for the plastic shelves.
Also. is there any special thing to keep in mind if looking at ferret cages for single chinchillas?

Another thing you have to watch out for is plastic trays. I've read of chins destroying the plastic trays on certain ones. I've seen on this board that there are many happy ferret cage users and some are not happy with them because they have typically shallower trays and less guards to keep the mess in. It may be because some chinchillas are messier than others.

I have Critter Nation which is the same thing and my girlfriend has a Ferret Nation. My chinchillas wont touch the plastic so im no hurry to replace them or cover them. While hers will demolish them so she has them covered in fleece. The cages are big and i love them.

Also as gray said they can make a mess but i plan to replace my 2 pans i have left with deep metal ones.

Thank you both! I was wondering about that, it makes it easier to look for cages. Thanks!

DO NOT USE My First Ferret Home. I have it; Nickers chews on the plastic. Make sure to use a cage with no plastic!
