Always 2 or 3 Babies?
«

Our female chin had babies a couple of times, and had 3 babies. Now she had one. So did our other one. Is there something wrong? Are we supposed to give some sort of supplement to them? Thanks!! (The litters were far apart)

As long as they are on a good diet they'll do well. Supplementing with calcium is usually advised to help develop bones. Most chinchillas have 1 or 2 at a time so, statistically, you are still ahead.

Thanks! Any idea what is the best way to supplement the calcium?

See if your chinchillas will chew on a cuttlebone. If not talk to your vet about getting some calcium powder and put it in their pelleted diet. Calcium deficiency is fairly common in actively breeding chinchillas. It won't increase the litter size but it's good practice to prevent certain health problems in the parents and kits.
