Our newest member to our large family is Pikachu. She is a sweet little girl though she only seems to trust me to hold her.

That's a nice looking chinchilla. Looks like it has some violet in her. Congrats on your chinchilla. Typically a chinchilla will bond with one person and not accept others. If you want others to hold her they will have to handle her regularly and you should see some improvement but not always. With these animals you must prove to them you can be trusted.

realy? I thought she was just a standard gray. She is a sweetheart. One issue I am having with her is her nibbiling kinda hard on my knuckles. Not hard enough to hurt or draw blood but there is preasure. She just lays on my chest when I take her out. I enjoy her company a lot.

That's cool. Sounds exactly like mine. It is somewhat unusual for chinchillas to like to be cuddled. It sounds like yours has a good temperament. I usually pull mine back by putting one hand under his chin when he gets too rough. It doesn't always work but seems to help.
The reason I think there is violet, although it's not like full expression of it, is because of the light ears that appear to be densely furred, but I could be wrong. I had a chinchilla like that a couple of years ago that I had to put down. It seems that is a violet trait.

Young ones and sometimes adults that haven't been handled much nibble a lot.  Just remove your hand or push them away a little when they get too rough.  They will mostly grow out of it and the times they do still nibble they will be more careful.  My adults can gently scrape their teeth across my fingers until they find a little piece of oatmeal between my fingers and take it.  The young ones tend to smell oatmeal and just start chomping until they find the piece.  It takes time for them to learn how to use their mouths on human hands.

Well i have found she LOVES her chest and jaw bone to be scratched. She will stand up on her hind legs close her eyes and turn up what ever side of her face she wants me to scratch.

Yeah that's a fun thing with chinchillas. I think it's some kind of reflex for mutual grooming. She thinks you're another chinchilla and she'll groom you back if you put your hand in front of her after you do that. When you're taming a chinchilla you usually want to try to start with that and get under their chin. They'll usually tilt their head up and close their eyes. The ones that like to be petted will do exactly as you describe and sometimes fall over backwards.
