important question about changing hay
« on: July 31, 2014, 02:55:39 PM »

today I went to find some timothy hay for my chins but the petsmarts around me aren't getting any for at least a month so I go to a grandma and grandpa pet store and they too didn't have have any for some odd reason so I just got then a 5 pound bag of kaytee timothy hay that will be temporary until I get another bag of oxbow hay. will this affect them in any negative way? I literally had no choice. I am going to introduce it slowly because everyone is suppose to do that but I want to know that they will be ok. I really don't know whats going on with oxbow.

Timothy hay is a species of hay. It doesn't matter what brand it is. Other types of hays can be fed as well without any negative impact. Your chinchillas will be fine.
It is the pelleted diet that should not be changed suddenly and that you really need to be picky about.
