Funny

Cereals make great treats, just stick with the healthy, full of fiber, no sugar types.
I use cheerios, spoon size shredded wheat, in plain and bran, shreddies, and oatmeal.
Nothing with frosting, brown sugar, or cinnamon, stuff like that.

I would consider cherries to be a pitted fruit.  Chinchillas should not be given pitted fruits or wood from pitted fruit trees.   :::(((

Thanks AZ, I knew branches from pitted fruit trees were bad, but I didn't know about the fruit.
I would be worried about the pit, but if it's tried and the pit is gone????? New one for me.
Other dried fruits you can give in moderation are, papaya, apple, apricots, banana.....
I buy a different one every month and mix things up every few nights with sunflowers seeds, cereal, or oatmeal.

There's always a possibility of some of the pit being in the fruit, even if it is dried.  I personally would not chance it when there are so many safer options available.

I agree 100%.
I've never given mine cherries, like has been said there are so many alternatives, good alternatives. ::thumbsup::
I avoid wet stuff for the most part, dried fruit is a very small part of their treats.
Besides I can get more time with them eating oatmeal out of my hand, one flake at a time. ;D

Correct.  Cherries are not an appropriate, safe treat for chinchillas.
