Wow awsome introduction advice...
« on: June 28, 2007, 09:26:50 PM »

Wow I have to give it to the Chinmania site: http://www.chinchillaclub.com/members/mag/chin_introductions_article.html
They have really helped me a lot with introducing new chins to eachother....I have a pink white and a beautiful 900 gram black velvet that I have been trying to pair for MONTHS and couldnt get them to pair to save my life...tried the close cage, neutral play area...nothing worked......but this site gave me success tonight!!....I did the close quarter introduction....I took both chins and put them in a tiny cage so that they had barely any room to go and I dotted a tiny dot of vic's vapor rub on their noses so that they couldnt smell eachother...they were angry at first, but a few minutes later they were fine!...I was amazed...i honestly thought it would make them fight worse but it didnt..woo.. ;)

I have also used this method from time to time, though I also heard it called the "smoosh method" of introduction LOL
I only do it as a last resort, because it does seem to be fairly stressful, but it also seems to work faster and better than other methods with some pairs of chins.

yea I tried everything else first, because I try to make it as less stressful as possible, and I had never heard of the smoosh method before...

I didn't have much luck with it,   ::shrug::  and have heard of some serious injuries.
I have also heard of some problem pairings doing very well with it.

Given time most any two chins can be put together, sometimes it just means giving these two time alone.
Most chins would rather have any buddy than no buddy at all.  ::gobananago:: ::banana::
As some are quite content just hearing others, I have had to isolate some parings from the rest.
But hey what ever works for you ::thumbsup:: the chinster has a great site. I have been using it for years. ::clapp::
