Missing Fur
« on: August 13, 2007, 02:31:24 PM »

while letting my chinchillas in thier bath i noticed that Squeak had a thin patch of fur on his forehead, after a closer look it seems that he is missing a patch of fur and there is skin visible about the size of the tip of my pinky. i was wondering what are some causes of this  and if there is something i should do(they are shedding alot, i assumed because its summer and its slightly warmer inside, about 75-77 in thier room high temperature). i havent heard them fighting since they were 1 month old so i dont know if one of them grabbed some fur out of the other.

If the skin looks healthy I wouldn't worry, he probebely scuffed it off some how.
Keep on eye it, if it spreads or skin gets flaky it could be fungus.
You can add athletes foot powder to his dust bath.
If it gets really bad it could require a trip to the vet.

ah thats good, the skin isnt flaky and doesnt seem to bother him any. i wouldnt have even noticed it if the fur wasnt pushed back by dust one day
