Curious...since the cages are provided by the show people, do people bringing their chins also bring something from home that the chin is familiar with - for comfort effect?

Wish we could go, but its a looong way from the west coast.

::silly:: When you travel with a chin, it is best to keep with it, the normal things it likes, but, it is not unusual for a chinchilla to cut way back on the amount of water and food it consumes when away from it's normal surroundings.

Your chin will remain in it's travel cage until the morning of the show and you start grooming it for the show.

Once the chin is groomed and placed in a show cage ... that's it ... they are not taken out of the show cage until the show is over.

There is nothing left in the show cage to distract from the appearance of the chinchilla.

The show is during the daytime ... their normal rest/sleeping time, so they do not need the food and water they need/enjoy at night ... it also cuts down on the urine and poos on the judging table.  ;-)

Healthy chinchillas can go 3 days without food or water ... but ... it is not advisable.

If a chinchilla is not healthy, it should not travel and definately not to a show or somewhere there will be other chinchillas.

They will usually eat and drink at the motel and before and after the show.

I think that covers everything.

Who else is trying to make plans to come?

Well, we would love to have help with setting up and we will certainly need help with clean-up after the show. I am sure there will be plenty of jobs we will think of on the day of the show.  As far as leading up to the show not much else to do but wait.  :)

I did want to make two announcements.....

First, the pre-registration date has been extended so anyone who missed the dead-line can still register.

ALSO...

We are getting ready to start working on show books.   Advertising in the Show Book is $9 for 1/4 page, $13 for 1/2 page, and $20 for a whole page if anyone is interested.

Even if you can not make it to the show ... this is a chance to Advertise your website OR JUST SHOW OFF/BRAGG ON YOUR CHIN/CHINS! ( A pretty picture for all to admire!)    ::nod::   I'll be showing off mine!   ::)

I am hoping there will be some good chins for sale at the show.

I am looking for a dark ebony male (& female if poss.) and het beige female (& male if poss.)

But of course when it comes to chins I'm very open to what catches my eye  ;)

What I am most excited about is learning a lot and the experience.  :::grins:: There is always a lot to learn and that is one thing that will never change.

Yea I work with Lee a lot and he called me to make sure we were going to the show the other day. He is bringing a few he wants me to consider because I couldn't make it up to see him before the show.

Thanks though, Jamie  :)

I'd love to see pictures of the show if anyone took and is up to posting them.  We're out on the west coast and WISH we could have gone, too.
